TDK and LG Innotek Partner on Physical AI
TDK Corporation and LG Innotek have formed a strategic partnership to jointly develop vision and haptic sensor modules for humanoid robots and other physical AI applications. The collaboration pairs LG Innotek’s optical and ultra-precision module design expertise with TDK’s sensor portfolio, including InvenSense inertial and position sensors and microphones, with the goal of integrating LG Innotek modules to serve as the “eyes” and “skin” of robots. The companies plan to launch a next generation vision sensing module offering expanded functionality and significantly improved recognition performance compared to existing solutions, targeting the fast growing physical AI and robotics sector.
Associated Research Marks 90 Years in Electrical Safety Testing
Associated Research, a brand of Ikonix USA, is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2026, marking nine decades in electrical safety compliance testing. Founded in 1934 by engineer James Inman as the Chicago Meter & Repair Laboratory, the company was renamed Associated Research in 1936; its defining early innovation, the 1939 Vibrotest insulation resistance tester, was adopted by the U.S. Navy during World War II. Leadership later exited the utility testing business to focus exclusively on electrical safety compliance. Today, under the Ikonix umbrella, Associated Research serves the medical device, EV, industrial automation, and semiconductor markets as it enters its tenth decade.
Chroma Powers NASA’s Artemis II Battery Testing
Chroma Systems Solutions announced its participation in NASA’s Artemis II mission using its Chroma 17020 Battery Test System to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of the Orion crew capsule’s battery systems. The system tested components tied directly to crew safety and was integrated into the launch tower to support validation up to final countdown. Orion relies on high performance lithium ion batteries for communication, navigation, and propulsion, particularly during eclipse periods when solar charging is unavailable. “Supporting NASA’s Artemis II mission underscores our commitment to delivering high reliability testing solutions for the world’s most demanding applications,” said Fred Sabatine, CEO of Chroma Systems Solutions.
Empower RF Adds 200W C-UAS Amplifier
Empower RF Systems has released its Model 1240, a compact, high performance RF amplifier module delivering a guaranteed minimum of 200 watts across the 900 to 1700 MHz frequency range. Built on GaN transistor technology as a full gain smart module, it integrates control and monitoring features for consistent RF performance, and its compact, high power density form factor suits mobile, airborne, shipboard, and ground based defense platforms. The 900 to 1700 MHz coverage aligns with bands used in cellular communications, GNSS navigation, and drone command and telemetry links, giving system designers and integrators a new high power option for C-UAS and EW system design.
Hirose Debuts Shielded Hybrid Board Connector
Hirose has introduced a hybrid FPC-to-board connector with a fully shielded design that blocks radiation and incident magnetic fields for clear, reliable signal transmission. The compact BK35 Series supports data transmission up to 40 Gbps and RF signal transmission up to 40 GHz, with a 0.35mm pitch, 2.2mm depth, and 0.6mm stacking height, targeting space constrained, EMI sensitive applications including smartphones, tablets, notebook PCs, and wearables. Combining power and signal contacts in one hybrid design reduces the number of connectors needed on a board, and four power contacts rated at 2.5A each provide reliable power delivery, with VSWR remaining low across the full frequency range.
Saelig Launches New Real Time Spectrum Analyzer
Saelig has announced the release of the AIM-TTi PSA Series 4 handheld spectrum analyzers, a significant upgrade to the popular PSA family that adds real time signal capture alongside classic swept and fast swept FFT modes. The series includes three models covering 1 MHz to 1.3 GHz, 2.7 GHz, and a real time 2.7 GHz variant. The standout feature is the new Real Time FFT analysis mode, offering up to 80,000 FFTs per second and 100 percent probability of intercept for transient signals as brief as 37.5 microseconds. Engineered for field mobility, the compact, 1.28 pound analyzer features a 4.3 inch touchscreen and pairs with Aim-TTi’s Test Bridge software for remote data logging.
Würth Elektronik Expands Coupled Power Inductor Line
Würth Elektronik has added the 1090HL variant to its WE-MCRI series of coupled power inductors, built to improve performance in SEPIC, ZETA, and Ćuk converters. The double choke deliberately harnesses leakage inductance, typically treated as a parasitic effect, to enable more effective filtering and a more compact design. Measuring just 11 x 10 x 9mm, the molded inductor allows ripple current reduction at a lower inductance value while requiring a smaller AC coupling capacitor, without sacrificing efficiency. Würth Elektronik specifies tolerances for both coupling factor and leakage inductance, a detail the company notes sets it apart from other manufacturers.
Rohde & Schwarz Adds 3-Phase Power Analysis
Rohde & Schwarz has released the R&S MXO-K333 software option, bringing power analyzer style measurements to its MXO series oscilloscopes. Designed for engineers developing and debugging three phase AC systems, the option combines power measurements with full waveform visibility so users can correlate power behavior with real signal events. Available across the MXO 3, 4, 5, and 5C families, the software supports two wire, three wire, and four wire configurations, with a guided setup wizard to assign channels and verify wiring. Once configured, it delivers cycle by cycle calculations for RMS values, power factor, and active, reactive, and total power, along with harmonic analysis and THD measurements.
